Professor Takeda is a leading strategic thinker in Japan and an advisor to Japanese corporations and the government. He has a wide-ranging, unparalleled, network of contacts in government, business and academia in Japan, the United States and globally. He has been intimately involved in the Japan-U.S. relationship for several decades and has been a close advisor to Ambassador Howard Baker (Former US Ambassador to Japan) for decades. He has just joined Baker's The Japan-U.S. Strategic Advisory with Mr. Yachi, former Vice Minister of MOFA. Dr. Takeda is Founding Director of Business-University Forum of Japan.He had been Executive Director since it was founded in 1992. He is a Professor of Social System Intelligence Laboratory and Advisor to the Office of the President, Waseda University, Japan.

Prior to joining Waseda University, he was a Professor of Engineering, Tokai University, Japan. Also, he was an executive fellow to Iacocca Institute, Lehigh University during 1995 to 1998. During 1990 to 1992, he was a Special Assistant, Office of the President for the five campuses comprising The University of Tennessee system, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Computer Science at the Knoxville Campus. Prior to joining The University of Tennessee, he was a visiting Professor of Elliott School for the International Affairs, The George Washington University 1989 to 1990. Also, he was a Visiting Professor, Peace Studies Program, Cornell University, 1984, and a Visiting Research Fellow, Institute of Production Technologies, Tokyo University, Japan. Prior to that, he was a Member of the Doctoral Faculty, Chemistry Department, University of North Carolina, 1969 to 1972. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics at Ohio State University in 1969. Dr. Takeda also has two master’s degrees, one in applied engineering and one in political science.
He has been a Member of International Advisory Council for Asia of Washington University in St. Louis, and a Member of International Advisory Board of Quest University, Canada. Also he is a Board Member of Asian Population Development Association(APDA), Japan. He has served several governmental committees concerning on energy/technology/industrial policy as Chairmen. Also, he started "Takeda & Associates" in 2006. He was a Counselor, Energy Security Group, the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC from 1993 until 2006.
Professor Takeda’s research has covered a broad range including policy studies such as Macro-Techno Policies in Energy, Environment, Non-Proliferation, Innovation and Cognitive Science. At hard research area, he has conducted Chemical Laser project where he holds 3 patents. He has published more than 10 books.
